Saved by the Black Mambas

The "Black Mambas" are a one-of-a-kind anti-poaching made up of 36 brave women protecting wildlife at the Balule Nature Reserve in South Africa. On September 24, 2016 a UN Environment team, led by Executive Director Erik Sholheim, traveled to Balule to meet the Black Mambas. In 2015, UN Environment recognized the Black Mambas with the Champions of the Earth Award.

“A Successful Biosafety Clearing House (BCH) Asia Family” took place at the Convention of Biological Diversity COP13 on 14 December, 2016. Presented by Law Division from United Nations Environment this video by IISD Reporting Services provides an overview of the event. The event recognized the Asian BCH collaboration that has unified Asian countries in a common goal of full compliance with the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety.
