UNEA - Second United Nations Environment Assembly:: Side Events
Side Events

The call for side event proposals received 118 submissions. The final 26 have now been selected, and the title and lead proposers of the side events can be found listed below; additional information will be uploaded as it becomes available. Please be assured that every effort was made to ensure a balanced regional, divisional and thematic representation.

For many of the final 26 side events chosen mergers with other side event proposals have, or will, be suggested. This is to ensure that the greatest number of side events are able to be represented, and to strengthen the side events currently listed by increasing their high-level participants and experts. In addition to mergers, many of the side events that were submitted have been included under the Sustainability Innovation Expo, the Green Room or the International Day of Biodiversity ( 22 May).

The Sustainability Innovation Expo will include nine moderated, interactive and dynamic panel discussions from 23-25 May 2016.

Green Room side events take place in a dedicated meeting room (“ the Greenroom”), primarily for civil society, with a view to sharing experiences and increasing opportunities for informal dialogue among the participants of UNEA-2. Slots for Green Room side events are  23-26 May, all day starting at 10am, in parallel to UNEA sessions.

The International Day of Biodiversity will be held on the 22nd May and those side-event submissions with a strong biodiversity angle will be held then.

Weekly updates on the side events and potential partnerships and evolving agendas will be made available on this page.
