“Supporting women across the Middle East to live a sustainable lifestyle has never been more important,” says Heba Al-Farra, UN Environment’s Young Champion of the Earth in West Asia.
Her organization, Women in Energy and Environment (WEE), is a network for environmental engineers across the Middle East and North Africa.
Her new website and platform, in collaboration with Enertech for Training and Management Consulting Company, will now be funded by the Palestinian Embassy of Kuwait. The support will allow Women in Energy and Environment to roll-out more activities and events throughout the year.

“This support is a major milestone for us,” says Al-Farra. “It shows that our goals to raise awareness about climate change in the region, while also supporting women to take bigger strides in tackling them, is also a key concern among governments.”
“We are very excited to build this community further, and with the new funding, we are now working hard to roll out a series of capacity-building events.”
“By providing women with consistently high-quality services, creative solutions, technical skills and future opportunities, we continue to empower women to become leaders in their organizations and in our countries throughout the region,” she added.
Among activities being organized is a “Women 4 Climate” event, details of which will be published on the Women in Energy and Environment platform soon.

“We encourage women in the Middle East, North Africa and beyond to connect with us so we can build our network wider. This will strengthen the kind of action that we can take to protect the environment in future,” she said.
